Established in 1994 we are now the most respected, dynamic World Leaders in European Rail Travel.

We are proud to launch a new series of holidays where you travel by rail, but in a completely flexible way. YOU choose when you travel and we arrange all the train and hotel accommodation.

The advent of Eurostar and other high speed trains now means a weekend away in the nearer European capital cities and historic towns are widely available. We’ve taken this concept a stage further with more unusual destinations such as a gourmet holiday in France, a multi centre trip around Spain, the Grand Italian Tour, Spa breaks in Austria or even as far as St. Petersburg.

All tours offer daily departures, and you can stay as long as you wish at the overnight stops. As the holiday cost depends on the season, they are subject to availability so please take this information as a guide.

The hotels are chosen for their proximity to railway stations and all are of a high standard. If you fancy a different holiday take a look at eRail.co.uk. For further information and bookings call us on

Taking the train to Europe

Europeans often choose the train as the most pleasant and efficient way to get around. The national rail systems are held in high regard as clean and reliable trains take you at high speed between major cities. Each country has its own identity, and on the train you experience the gradual change in the landscape, whilst on some trips to Switzerland and Norway dramatic mountain and fjord landscapes are highlights. Most trains have a restaurant or bistro service so meals can be as light or substantial as you wish. Overnight trains save a day’s holiday and offer a choice of cabins with beds and sleepers; please see below for details of this accommodation.

Our holidays start with a journey on Eurostar, the high-speed train from London or Ashford which links into the European high speed network at Paris, Brussels and Lille. Opt for 1st class on this route and a 3-course meal is included. From Paris every night a sleeper train leaves for Spain the ‘Elipsos’, this service is known as a Hotel train as many sleeper cabins are en-suite. If you travel in this ‘Grand Class’ accommodation all meals are included, the restaurant is well regarded. Travelling beyond Brussels, many day journeys can be taken on the ‘ICE’ train Inter City Express. The night trains ‘Nachtzug’ are all recently built carriages offering a smooth ride with fewer stops taking you to Munich and Berlin.

Swiss trains are renowned for their reliability and frequency – and that extends to the mountain railways and buses. All public transport connects with each other at regular intervals linking every station and bus stop. Many feature panoramic coaches with windows reaching to the roof, and on steeper routes they are fitted with a rack and pinion system for climbing the hills.
Sleeper trains are a popular way to travel offering single, twin and 3 berth cabins for privacy. Many now offer cabins with shower and toilet and include a restaurant car or bistro for a light meal. There is usually an attendant to look after you, make the beds and bring you a welcome breakfast in the morning.

The European rail system has benefited from many years of continuing expansion and investment. You can experience the difference on this range of holidays exclusive to eRail.co.uk. We look forward to hearing from you.
