| Day 1-2 Mid afternoon Eurostar departure for a connection with the overnight Elipsos train from Paris. This well established sleeper train offers freshly prepared meals in the restaurant, reaching Barcelona at 8.30 am. Days 2-3 Our selected hotels in central Barcelona for 3* is the Del Mar or if you prefer 4* the Tryp Apolo. Both of these hotels are situated in the celebrated Ramblas area famous for the elegant shops leading to the notable open air market Mercat de la Boqueria, a colourful and exotic open market with fresh fruit and meat. Nearby the unique architecture of the Sagrada Familia Church was started in 1882 and is still not finished. The church is expiatory, meaning that it is being constructed to atone for wrongdoing or guilt, so the financing of the church is completely private. |
At one end of the Ramblas is the harbour, one of the areas that draws a real mix of people in Barcelona from locals to tourists. It’s nice to walk around and there’s a lot to see. In the traditional port area there is a huge walkway which crosses the harbour, leading to the area where the Olympic events were held in 1992, now a thriving area with restaurants and bars. The nearest beach is at Barceloneta, 20 minutes walk away from the Ramblas with some great views en route. On the way youwill pass the Monument a Colom, a memorial to the explorer, Christopher Columbus. Days 3-4 On the evening of day 3 at 8 pm return by the night sleeper to Paris for onward Eurostar connection to London. |
