Day 1 Travel by high speed trains from St Pancras changing at Brussels, Frankfurt to Weimar staying at the 3* Kaiserin Augusta opposite the station, a few minutes walk from the city centre Day 2 Weimar is the home to Germany’s famous poets Goethe and Schiller, later on birthplace of the Bauhaus architectural design movement. Close by is the Buchenwald camp from the Nazi era.
Day 3 Travel short train trip to Leipzig, the great centre of classical music with the annual Bach festival and home of the Gewandthaus orchestra. Stay at the 3* Holiday Inn Leipzig City Centre opposite the station

Day 4 Leipzig offers more than just culture, it is the home of BMW’s most modern factory designed by Zaha Hadid with tours available, also an opportunity to visit infamous Colditz castle in the valley of the castles.
Day 5 High speed train to Dresden now completely rebuilt, visit the restored Frauenkirche and the famous Semper Opera house. Stay 2 nights at the 4* superior Westin Bellevue on river Elbe with great city views
Day 6 Take a river trip along the Elbe to Saxon Switzerland or visit Meissen for its world famous porcelain museum and Baroque castle Moritzburg by steam train from nearby Radebeul.
Day 7 Return on ICE high speed train and Eurostar to London
