Italian Grand Tour 9 days


Day 1-3 Travel by early afternoon train to Paris, to connect with overnight sleeper train to Rome. Stay at the 3*Corot hotel a few minutes from the station or the 4* Baileys close to the Via Veneto. After checking in why not walk to Venice Square and admire the monument to Emanuel II. Close by is the Roman Forum and the magnificent Coliseum. Spend at day visiting St Peter’s Basilica, moving on later to the Trevi Fountain made famous by the film ‘La Dolce Vita’. In the evening visit Trastevere
for a typical slow food dinner.

Day 4-5 Mid morning train to Florence which is a compact city and mostly traffic free. Stay at the 3* Cimabue or 4*Embassy hotels both close to the station. The renaissance centre is dominated by the Duomo, nearby is the famous Ponte Vecchio lined with tiny jewellers shops and the Uffizi home of Italy’s most celebrated artworks.

Day 6 Take the high speed train to Venice, arriving at the marble fronted Santa Lucia station next to the Grand canal. Take the waterbus to the quietly situated 3 star Hotel Casa Verardo or 4* Rialto hotel next to the famous bridge.

Day 7 Visit St Marks Square, the Doges Palace and the Campanile, dramatically approached on the Waterbus from the
Venice Lido.

Day 8-9 Hire a Gondola for an hour, an extravagance but this is Venice! Evening departure on the overnight ‘Artesia’ train to Paris with London connection arriving back at around 12 noon next day.

Option for day Travel

Day 1 Mid morning Eurostar departure to connect with the high speed TGV to Milan. Spend one night at the Rio Hotel, Milan,
visit the Gallerie Umberto I, a 19th century covered shopping centre.

Day 2-8 Travel on to Rome, Florence and Venice as main itinerary

Day 8-9 Take the Citystar train to Milan overnight at the Rio hotel next day take High speed trains back to Paris and London.

Departures
Daily throughout the year (except 25 December). Extra nights possible in Paris, Rome, Florence and Venice. Before or after your holiday special rates are available at the 3* Crestfield or 4* Euston Hilton, near St Pancras station, London.

Costs are per person based on 2 travelling in 2 bedded accommodation on trains and hotels. Prices subject to availability and are based on 3 seasons below

For day trains option with an overnight stop in each direction at Milan there is a supplement per person of £100 for 3* hotels, £150 for 4* hotels.
