| Day 1 Early morning departure London St Pancras taking high speed trains changing at Brussels and Cologne for the modern German ICE train to Berlin. Day 2 Stay one night at the recommended 4* Mercure Checkpoint Charlie hotel near Berlin main station. Visit the ruins of the Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church, a haunting reminder of the Second World War. Day 3 Board the modern Russian sleeper train to Moscow for the overnight journey in private 1st class Double sleeper cabins or sharing in economy 3 berth sleepers (not daily). Private car transfer from station to hotel in Moscow. Day 4 Stay for 1 night at 4 star Katerina Park to the south of Moscow 15 minutes by Metro from Red Square. Moscow has a fascinating centre around the Kremlin with the colourful domes of St Basil’s cathedral adjoining. Around this area are chaotic streets with charming courtyards and some very expensive shopping! Day 5 From Moscow take private transfer to station to travel by overnight sleeper train to St Petersburg with private car transfer to hotel. |
Day 6-8 Stay for 3 nights at the 4 star Hotel Helvetia, close to the Winter Palace, scene of many momentous events in Russian history. Take an excursion to Peterhof, the Czar’s holiday palace on the Finnish gulf complete with Grand Cascade complex with fountains and golden sculptures. Day 9-10 Car transfer for the 2 night train journey to Berlin, note this service does not run daily. Day 11-12 Stay overnight in Berlin at the Hotel Mercure Checkpoint Charlie to catch your breath! Complete you holiday by returning by day trains to London. |
